On the morning of June 28, Qinzhou automated container terminal of Beibu Gulf port, China's first sea rail intermodal container terminal, was officially opened. This is an important measure to promote the high-quality development of the new land and sea channel in the West and the international gateway port in the Beibu Gulf. It is also a key step for Guangxi to realize the marine dream of strengthening and prospering towards the sea. The opening of the automated terminal will provide important support for the high-level construction of the new western land and sea channel, greatly enhance the core competitiveness of the Beibu Gulf port, and is of great significance to accelerate the construction of the international gateway port and international hub port of the new western land and sea channel, and achieve the development goal of 10million TEU of the Beibu Gulf port by 2025.

Characteristics of the port

The world's first U-shaped process

The world's first U-shaped process scheme and technical scheme fully solve the problems of high energy consumption, high investment cost, unbalanced equipment utilization, and few loading and unloading points of the terminal yard end operation process scheme. It has the characteristics of high efficiency, economy, and strong efficiency expansibility.

More loading and unloading points, more efficient

Through the three-stage gate, the external container truck can reach the target shell position of the storage yard directly and can exit the gate along with the U-shaped road after completing the grab and release of the box. IGV can realize the operation from the seaside to the storage yard along the lane. The U-shaped layout has many loading and unloading points, and the box is flexible. Adding rail crane equipment can significantly improve the operation efficiency of the yard and has strong expansibility.

Safer traffic diversion

It realizes the traffic diversion, physical isolation, and non-interference between external trucks and IGV, which not only realizes the same storage yard, but also takes into account the land side and seaside collection and distribution operations, and ensures the safety of automated operations.

More economical, more provincial

With the use of low-speed rail cranes, the equipment cost, storage yard construction investment, equipment energy consumption, and equipment loss are reduced by more than 30%.

The first sea rail combined transportation in China

It is worth mentioning that the project is committed to creating a higher form of sea rail intermodal ecology. The rear of the dockyard is adjacent to the railway central station. Through the development of the sea railway intermodal transportation automation system, the information barrier between the railway and the port can be broken through, the information exchange and sharing between the maritime and railway transportation modes can be realized, and the integrated service capacity of the intermodal transportation can be improved, the seamless connection of the sea railway intermodal transportation can be realized, and the first sea railway intermodal automatic container terminal in China will be built, providing strong support for the construction of the new land-sea channel in the West.

New technology for port

The technological innovation of the automatic double trolley quayside bridge. The efficiency of the double trolley relay operation is more than 10% higher than that of the traditional automatic single trolley quay bridge. At the same time, the double trolley quay bridge is designed, and lightweight. In the quayside loading and unloading process, the number of IGV lanes behind the rail is reduced from 7 to 6, thus shortening the rear extension of the quay bridge and reducing the overall self-weight.

The technological innovation of automatic rail cranes. Globally, the first innovative application of the automatic double cantilever rail crane based on the new loading and unloading technology can take into account the automatic loading and unloading operations of the manual truck under one side of the cantilever and the automatic vehicle under the other side of the cantilever respectively. At the same time, in order to ensure the automatic operation of external trucks, complete safety protection systems are equipped, including a truck anti-lifting protection system, box lock detection system, rear truck operation waiting for the prompt system, and truck red light running monitoring system, etc. These safety subsystems effectively ensure the safety and controllability of the whole operation link and realize the double improvement of efficiency and safety.

Intelligent guided vehicle (IGV) technology innovation. Innovative application of IGV in the form of 8-wheel and 4-axle chassis, the maximum wheel pressure is equivalent to that of the ordinary external truck, and there is no need to increase civil engineering investment; Equipped with the flexible intelligent charging robot, which is independently developed and pioneered in the country, it can truly realize the automatic charging of IGV. It can work for 4 hours after charging for 20 minutes. It has the characteristics of charging without leaving the field, fast charging, and long endurance. At the same time, the project innovatively designs the layout scheme of the new vehicle positioning magnetic nails and controls the positioning accuracy within 20mm on the premise of significantly reducing the density of magnetic nails and further reducing investment.

It is reported that the Qinzhou automated container terminal project of Beibu Gulf port will be implemented in two phases. Among them, the No. 7 and No. 8 automated container berths in Qinzhou balancing South operation area opened this time are phase I projects, with two 100000 ton container berths, a total length of 518.5 meters of coastline, and an annual throughput of 1.02 million TEUs. At present, the second phase of the project is in full swing, with the construction of two 200000 ton berths, the designed annual capacity of 1.6 million TEUs, and will be put into operation in 2023.
