What is NADPH?

NADPH powder is a white solid powder at normal temperature and pressure, which has strong hygroscopicity and is easy to deliquesce and deteriorate after moisture absorption. NADPH is a coenzyme that transfers neurotransmitters (more precisely, hydrogen ions). As a key factor of electron transfer in all organisms' metabolism, this substance can be oxidized (NADP+) and reduced (NADPH) alternately, and it has two forms: oxidized and reduced. It plays an important role as a coenzyme in organisms and participates in many biochemical reactions, such as glucose metabolism, fat metabolism and protein metabolism.
Triphosphopyridine nucleotide is sensitive to light and heating, so it needs to be stored in a dark place and in a refrigerator at -20 degrees. During preparation and use, exposure to light and high temperature should be avoided as far as possible to avoid affecting its stability and activity. What are the functions of NADPH?

Photosynthesis:
In plant chloroplasts, NADPH powder is reduced to reduced coenzyme II (NADPH) in the last step of the electron chain of the photosynthetic light reaction. This process must be catalyzed by ferredoxin-NADP+ reductase. The reaction leaves a proton (i.e., hydrogen ion), which participates in the subsequent carbon reaction (dark reaction) with NADPH and reduces phosphoglycerate (C) to phosphoglyceraldehyde (C). This process is also called [carbon fixation].
Respiration:
For animals and other non-photosynthetic organisms, the oxidation phase of the pentose phosphate pathway is the main source of NADPH in cells, which can produce about 60% of the required NADPH.
However, there are several other less well-known mechanisms that can produce NADPH, but all of these mechanisms depend on the presence of mitochondria.
Some of the key enzymes in these processes are: NADP-malic acid enzyme, coenzyme-linked isocitrate dehydrogenase, NADP-glutamate dehydrogenase, and nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase isocitrate dehydrogenase.
Among the less well-known mechanisms that can produce NADPH, some of the NADPH is suspected to be derived from fat, but the possibility that the main source is liver cells cannot be ruled out. In addition, in the mitochondria, NADH kinase (NADH is the abbreviation of coenzyme I) produces NADPH and ADP, using NADH and ATP as substrates.
