Ketotifen fumarate powder is used in dermatology for urticaria, pruritus, eczema, allergic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, neurodermatitis and other allergic diseases; it has recently been reported to be effective in the treatment of scleroderma. Acetonitrile and phosphate buffer pH 4 (30:70) were used as mobile phases and the wavelength was adjusted to 276 nm for drug detection. The specificity, accuracy, precision, linearity and robustness of the developed method were validated.
The chromatograms obtained for the simultaneous determination of two anti-asthmatic drugs using the newly developed method showed that the peaks of both drugs were clearly distinguishable. A new simple, convenient and accurate method was developed for the simultaneous quantification of commonly used anti-asthmatic drugs.
