What does cinchonine do?
Cinchonine Powder and cinchonidine are extracted from the bark of cinchona. The anti-malarial effects of these drugs have been proven and are used clinically to treat Plasmodium falciparum.
What is the difference between quinine and cinchonine?
Cinchonidine and quinine are similar alkaloids. The difference is only that cinchonidine has H while quinine has OCH3 in the same position. By epimerization and NADPH activity, cinchonine and quinine are synthesized from cinchoninone.
Is cinchonine antimalarial?
