Tulathromycin A is an antibiotic derived from soil strains of the genus Actinomyces. It belongs to penicillin-like antibiotics and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
The main use of Tulathromycin A is in the treatment of infectious diseases, particularly with high activity against Gram-positive bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus) and some Gram-negative bacteria. It is widely used in the treatment of urinary tract, respiratory and skin infections.
Tulathromycin A is usually extracted from actinomyces strains by fermentation. Actinomyces strains were cultured and suitable medium was prepared. Then fermentation is carried out to make the strain grow and produce Tulathromycin A; Pure tulathromycin A is obtained through the extraction and purification steps.
