It is an antibacterial antibiotic belonging to Pleurotus ostreatus and a derivative of Pleurotus ostreatus, but it also has bactericidal effect on sensitive bacteria at very high concentration. Like macrolide antibiotics, Tiamulin fumarate inhibits the synthesis of bacterial protein by binding to ribosome 50S subunit. Tiamulin fumarate has good antibacterial activity against a variety of gram-positive bacteria, including most staphylococci and streptococci (except group D streptococci), mycoplasma and treponema suis.
