Ceftizoxime Sodium is the third generation of cephalosporin antibiotics, which has the characteristics of broad spectrum, high efficiency, enzyme resistance, and ability to cross the blood-brain barrier. It is stable to most of the broad-spectrum β-lactamases produced by G+ and G-, and has strong antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis and other enterobacteriaceae bacteria. It is widely distributed in various tissues and body fluids throughout the body, including pleural fluid, ascites, bile, gallbladder wall, cerebrospinal fluid, prostatic fluid and bone tissue, and can reach therapeutic concentrations. It is clinically used for lower respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, abdominal infection, pelvic infection, sepsis, skin soft tissue infection, bone and joint infection, meningitis and simple gonorrhea caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae caused by sensitive bacteria.

The antibacterial profile was similar to Cefotaxime. It has antibacterial effect on some gram-positive bacteria and stronger effect on gram-negative bacteria. Its sensitive strains are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus, Neisseria, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Serratia, Limonobacter, Proteus, typhi, dysentery, peptococcus, Peptococcus, Clostridium, etc. Some of the pseudomonas aeruginosa, aerogenes, acinetobacter were sensitive to them. Some gram-negative bacteria resistant to first-generation cephalosporins and gentamicin were sensitive to it. Streptococcus faecalis and staphylococcus resistant to neopenicillin are not sensitive to this product.
