Description
Product description

DL Tryptophan, one of the essential amino acids for the human body. Non-polar amino acids, with an isoelectric point of 5.98, have low solubility in water, a bitter taste, and have maximum light absorption at a wavelength of approximately 280nm. It is the first essential amino acid to be confirmed. In both humans and animals, apart from being a component of proteins and maintaining the balance of nitrogen in the body, its metabolite - serotonin - not only has a constricting effect on peripheral blood vessels, but also has a controlling effect on the nervous system. Another product of metabolism is vitamin B5. In plants, through reactions such as deamination and decarboxylation, the plant growth hormone - indoleacetic acid can be formed.
DL Tryptophan belongs to aromatic amino acids and is the amino acid with the least amino acid content but widely present among various proteins. DL-Tryptophan can be converted into niacin in the body. Therefore, when niacin is lacking in the feed, the demand for DL-Tryptophan increases accordingly. The production routes of DL-Tryptophan include chemical synthesis, fermentation and natural protein hydrolysis. The artificially synthesized product is DL-mixed DL-Tryptophan, and for pigs, its bioavailability is 80% of that of L-tryptophan. Dl-tryptophan appears as a white to light yellow powder, odorless or slightly off-flavors, and is insoluble in water. DL-Tryptophan can enhance the disease resistance and stress resistance of newborn piglets, thereby increasing the survival rate of piglets. It is generally used in the artificial milk of piglets, with an addition amount of 0.02% to 0.05%. Due to its high price, DL-Tryptophan additives are generally not used in growing and fattening pigs and breeding pigs.

What is DL tryptophan?
DL Tryptophan is a racemic mixture of the atypical amino acid D-tryptophan and the essential amino acid L-tryptophan.
What does high levels of tryptophan do?
So high levels of tryptophan prevent tryptophan synthesis through a negative feedback loop, and when the cell's tryptophan levels go down again, transcription from the trp operon resumes. This permits tightly regulated and rapid responses to changes in the cell's internal and external tryptophan levels.
Which is better 5-HTP or L-tryptophan?
The amino acids 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) and l-tryptophan are precursors of serotonin. 5-HTP is generally recommended over l-tryptophan because it crosses the blood-brain barrier at a higher rate, is converted into serotonin more efficiently than l-tryptophan, and has a more pronounced antidepressant effect.
Biological activity
DL Tryptophan is an important precursor substance for auxin biosynthesis in plants and is widespread in higher plants. DL-Tryptophan can synthesize auxin from tryptophan through two pathways: One is that DL-Tryptophan is first oxidized and deaminated to form indole acetone, and then decarboxylated to form indole acetaldehyde. The obtained indole acetaldehyde is eventually oxidized to indole acetic acid under the catalysis of the corresponding enzyme. The second type is that DL-Tryptophan is decarboxylated to form tryptamine first, and then tryptamine is oxidized and deaminated to form indoleacetic acid. In animals, DL-Tryptophan can be involved in the renewal of plasma proteins in the animals, promote the function of riboflavin, and also contribute to the synthesis of niacin and heme. It can significantly increase antibodies in the fetters of pregnant animals and has a promoting effect on lactation in lactating dairy cows and sows. When livestock and poultry lack DL-Tryptophan, growth stops, body weight decreases, fat accumulation reduces, and the testicles of breeding male animals atrophy. In medicine, DL-Tryptophan can be used as a preventive and therapeutic agent for pellaria.
