What is incidal?
Incidal is a specific histamine H1 receptor antagonist, belonging to the first-generation product. It is used to alleviate allergic symptoms caused by histamine release. What is the mechanism of action of Incidal?
Mebhydrolin napadisylate acts as a specific histamine H1 receptor antagonist by competitively binding to the histamine H1 receptor, blocking the docking site of histamine with this receptor, thereby interfering with histamine-mediated allergic reactions such as increased vascular permeability, vasodilation, and bronchoconstriction. Its core mechanism is to exert an anti-allergic effect. Furthermore, Incidal can also directly bind to and inhibit the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity of the Zika virus NS5 protein, independent of the histamine H1 receptor, thus exhibiting inhibition of viral activity; finally, it can also act as a selective FARNESOL X receptor antagonist, exerting an effect on glucose homeostasis in type 2 diabetic mice.
