Description

Thiamphenicol Powder Raw Material is a white to almost white crystalline powder or crystal, odorless.

Density: 1.491g/cm3, melting point: 163-166ºC, boiling point: 695.9cat 760mmhg, flash point: 374.7ºC It is soluble in dimethylformamide, slightly soluble in absolute ethanol, and slightly soluble in water. It is mainly used to treat respiratory, urinary, liver, gallbladder, typhoid and other intestinal surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and ENT infections, especially for mild to moderate infections.

What is Thiamphenicol?

Thiamphenicol Powder Raw Material is a derivative of chloramphenicol. Slightly bitter, stable to light and heat. Its antibacterial spectrum is basically the same as that of chloramphenicol, and its antibacterial activity in vitro is slightly lower than that of chloramphenicol, but it is the opposite in vivo, and its blood concentration is high and lasting. It is a bacteriostatic agent, which has a bactericidal effect at high concentrations, and its action mechanism is the same as chloramphenicol. Bacteria can also develop drug resistance to it, and have complete cross-resistance with chloramphenicol. It is a strong immunosuppressant, and its effect is about 6 times that of chloramphenicol. With little protein binding, it can quickly penetrate into all tissues of the whole body, with higher content in kidney, spleen, liver, lung, and other tissues, followed by heart and muscle, and also distributed in brain tissues. It is rarely metabolized in the body, and it is not combined with glucuronic acid in the liver, but excreted in urine as it is. Its clinical indications are the same as chloramphenicol. At first, it was thought that the toxicity of chloramphenicol to the hematopoietic system was related to the nitro group in its molecular structure, and there was no nitro group in its molecular structure. However, clinical observation showed that chloramphenicol could also cause inhibition of erythropoiesis, a decrease of granulocyte and platelet, etc. Therefore, it was necessary to check the hemogram regularly during use, but aplastic anemia rarely occurred during medication.

What are the functions of Thiamphenicol?

Thiamphenicol Powder Raw Material is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent.

It can inhibit most gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria. Especially for gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Typhoid Bacillus, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Brucella, and gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus anthracis, Staphylococcus, Corynebacterium, Pneumococcus, Streptococcus, Enterococcus, and Actinomycetes are also sensitive to them.

It has less effect on Gram-positive bacteria than penicillin and tetracycline.

It also has effects on leptospira, some mycoplasmas, some chlamydia, and rickettsia. There is complete cross-resistance between bacteria and chloramphenicol, and partial cross-resistance between bacteria and tetracycline.

Which animals is Thiamphenicol suitable for?

Thiamphenicol is mainly used for the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and intestinal tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria.

1. Pig

Infectious atrophic rhinitis of pigs, porcine reproductive respiratory syndrome (PRDC), infectious pleuropneumonia, asthma, lung disease, yellow and white dysentery of piglets, and paratyphoid fever;

2. Birds

Chronic respiratory diseases, vesiculitis, duck infectious serositis, cholera, colibacillosis, and salmonellosis; Reduce the secondary infection caused by classical swine fever, blue ear disease, Japanese encephalitis, Newcastle disease, avian influenza, etc.

3. Aquatic products

Bleeding, enteritis, red skin, rotten tail, rotten skin, and other bacterial outbreaks. It can be used for the respiratory tract, urinary tract, and intestinal tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria such as influenza, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella.

What are the drug interactions of Thiamphenicol?

1. Antiepileptic drugs (hydantoins). Because thiamphenicol can inhibit the activity of microsomal enzymes in liver cells, leading to the decrease of metabolism of these drugs, or replacing the serum protein binding sites of these drugs, the effect or toxicity of these drugs can be enhanced, so the dosage of these drugs should be adjusted when combined with thiamphenicol or used later.

2. When combined with hypoglycemic drugs (such as tolbutamide), the protein binding site is replaced, which can enhance its hypoglycemic effect, so it is necessary to adjust the dosage of these drugs. The non-ionic combination of glipizide and glibenclamide makes it less affected than other oral hypoglycemic agents, but we should be cautious when using it together.

3. Long-term oral administration of estrogen-containing contraceptives, such as thiamphenicol, can reduce the reliability of contraception and increase bleeding outside menstruation.

4. Because thiamphenicol can act as a vitamin B6 antagonist or increase the excretion of the latter through the kidney, leading to anemia or peripheral neuritis, the body's demand for thiamphenicol increases when vitamin B6 is combined with thiamphenicol. 5. Chloramphenicol can antagonize the hematopoiesis of vitamin B12, so it is not advisable to combine them.

What adverse reactions will Thiamphenicol encounter during its use?

1. Gastrointestinal reactions such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting can occur, and the incidence rate is below 10%.

2. Occasionally, allergic reactions such as rash occur.

3. No "grey baby syndrome" has been found in premature infants and newborns. Only a few cases reported transient skin and pale face.

4. Thiamphenicol can cause a toxic reaction of the hematopoietic system, mainly manifested as reversible inhibition of erythropoiesis, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia, and aplastic anemia is rare.

5. Central nervous system reactions mainly include headache, lethargy, dizziness, and peripheral neuritis. Long-term treatment with thiamphenicol in patients with nervous system diseases will cause symptoms such as decreased sense of touch, pain from touching objects, and hyperalgesia. The symptoms of feet are more serious than those of hands, which can be improved after stopping the drug but can not be fully recovered.
