JXL-069 CAS 2260696-63-5 (also known as PP405) is an experimental small molecule developed by UCLA and later licensed to Pelage Pharmaceuticals for further development, primarily as a mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC) inhibitor for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) (male/female hair loss).

JXL-069 works by specifically inhibiting the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier (MPC), which is responsible for transporting pyruvate from the cytoplasm to the mitochondrial matrix for subsequent metabolism (such as the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation).

This inhibition leads to:
Cellular metabolic reprogramming: forcing hair follicle cells to shift from mitochondrial oxidative metabolism to glycolysis for energy;
Hair follicle cycle regulation: promoting the transition of hair follicles from the telogen phase to the anagen phase, thereby stimulating hair growth;
