L-Epicatechin is a component extracted and purified from green tea and is one of the main active components of catechins compounds with multiple biological activities, including antioxidant, analgesic, cardiac protective, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor effects. L-Epicatechin is a 2R 3R stereoisomer of catechin and, like catechin, is a potent antioxidant that inhibits cyclooxygenase 1(IC50= 3.2pM) and protects against lipid peroxidation in the phospholipid bilayer.
