Methylene Blue trihydrate is highly regarded in the treatment and prevention of various diseases in ornamental fish due to its strong bactericidal effect. In particular, it is considered to be an extremely effective product in the treatment of the following three diseases:
White Spot Disease
This is a disease caused by the parasitic protozoan Copepodium that infects fish. It is commonly seen in freshwater fish. If not treated promptly, it can be fatal; but if it can be detected early and treatment started, the cure rate is very high. Methylene Blue trihydrate performs well in eliminating this parasite. Due to the high contagiousness of white spot disease, once diseased fish are detected, it is best to treat the entire fish tank to prevent the spread of the disease.
Incomplete Development Syndrome
This disease is particularly common in goldfish, characterized by the whitening of the outer part of the fins and the reddening of the inner part. It is caused by the ubiquitous cylindrical Bacillus bacteria in water. Although it usually does not infect healthy individuals, if goldfish experience a stress response for some reason, their risk of contracting the disease may increase. When treating with Methylene Blue trihydrate, it is recommended to isolate the sick fish in a separate container and add five parts per thousand of salt at the same time to enhance the treatment effect.
Ich disease
This is a disease caused by infection with Ichthyophthirius. It results in the formation of white flocculent substances on the surface of the fish. If the symptoms spread to the gills, it can be fatal. Methylene Blue trihydrate is also effective in treating ich disease. It is necessary to isolate the sick fish for treatment. Additionally, the fungus that causes ich disease often lies dormant in the bottom sand. When the temperature drops, it will rise into the water and infect the fish. Therefore, when changing water, it is best to do so gently to avoid disturbing the bottom of the fish tank and increasing the risk of infection.
It is worth noting that using Methylene Blue trihydrate for disinfection before introducing new fish into the aquarium is also an effective preventive measure. This can help prevent the diseases carried by the new fish from entering the aquarium and infecting other healthy fish.
