Dipyridamole activity

Dipyridamole Powder is an antiplatelet agent used in secondary prophylaxis against stroke and as an adjunctive agent with warfarin post mechanical valve replacement. It is also used in the evaluation of coronary artery disease during a pharmacologic stress test. If you use it every day, dipyridamole stops platelets from clumping together to form unwanted blood clots. This helps to prevent heart attacks and strokes.Dipyridamole. Dipyridamole prevents blood clots and reduces the risk of complications if you've had a heart valve replacement. Blood clots happen when your blood thickens.

This can be dangerous when clots form in your arteries or veins. Dipyridamole is a nucleoside transport inhibitor and a PDE3 inhibitor medication that inhibits blood clot formation when used chronically. Due to its action as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, dipyridamole is likely to potentiate the effects of adenosine. This occurs by blocking the nucleoside transporter (ENT1) through which adenosine enters erythrocyte and endothelial cells.
