Description
Polymyxin B sulfate salt is similar to polymyxin E and is mainly used for wounds, urinary tract infections, as well as infections in the eyes, ears, trachea, and other areas caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other pseudomonas. It can also be used for sepsis and peritonitis. Pure Polymyxin B sulfate powder is a colorless or slightly yellow hygroscopic powder. If polymyxin B sulfate is dissolved in 50 mg/mL water, a slightly misty colorless to yellow solution will be produced.

What are the applications of this product?
Sulfate polymyxin B is a strong cationic cyclic peptide antibiotic fermented from polymyxa, and it is also a mixture of B1 and B2 sulfates. It is highly effective in dealing with urinary tract infections, meningeal infections, and bloodstream infections caused by sensitive strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In addition, sulfate polymyxin B powder also has inhibitory or bactericidal effects on gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Bordetella pertussis, and Shigella. What are the biochemical/physiological effects of this product?
Polymyxin B sulfate powder binds to the lipid portion of bacterial lipopolysaccharides, inducing sufficiently large pores to disrupt the cytoplasmic membrane, causing nucleotide leakage into the bacterial cell wall and thereby breaking the semi permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane. This product has bactericidal effect on most Gram negative bacteria; Clinical studies have found that this product is also suitable for treating infections caused by carbapenem resistant non fermenter bacteria and carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. The mechanism of action of this product is also achieved by binding and interfering with the permeability of the cell membrane.
