Centellaasiatica(L)Urban, a plant of the Apiaceae family, is the dried whole plant or the whole plant with roots. It is also known as the "Thunder Root", "Horse hoof Grass", and "fallen Root". It can be collected all year round and is rich in resources. It grows in tropical regions of Southeast Asia, Australia, South Africa, and Central Africa. It has a long history of application in the medical field in many countries. Centella asiatica is cold in nature and bitter in taste. It can clear heat, promote diuresis, detoxify and reduce swelling. It is mainly used for treating damp-heat jaundice, heatstroke diarrhea, abscesses, sores and toxins, and injuries from falls and blows. Asiaticoside skincare, a pentacyclic triterpene compound, has multiple pharmacological effects such as anti-ulcer, promoting wound healing, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, and immune regulation. At present, it is mainly used for the treatment of scleroderma and skin trauma and burns.

With the increase of drug concentration, the synthesis of DNA within the cells decreases, and the cell growth is inhibited, with the highest inhibition rate reaching 73%. This suggests that the mechanism of action of asiaticoside is to block the proliferation of fibroblasts, thereby reducing the synthesis of collagen and preventing scar hyperplasia.
